Our Business Operating Model

MRF & Collection & Sorting Hubs

The business operates an integrated waste processing model anchored by a central Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and a network of community collection and sorting hubs. The operating

model integrates community-based collection and sorting hubs with a central Materials Recovery Facility to deliver inclusive, high-impact recycling outcomes.

Waste is sorted at source, creating local employment and improving material quality before processing. Recyclable materials, where we are placing an emphasis on plastics, chip packets, Polystyrene (foam) takeaway packs, alu cans, are sorted at source by households, businesses, and community partners, then aggregated at local hubs where initial quality checks and secondary sorting occur.

Community hubs serve as access points for waste recovery, skills development, and income generation, while the MRF ensures consistent processing, baling, and market readiness. Materials are transported to the MRF for further processing, including mechanical sorting, compaction, and baling to industry specifications. Finished bales are sold to downstream recyclers and manufacturers.

The model diverts significant volumes of waste from landfill, reduces carbon emissions, supports circular economy outcomes, and provides traceable social and environmental impact aligned with ESG and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) frameworks.

The model emphasises community participation, material quality, operational efficiency, and traceable waste diversion from landfill.
